Elmer first appears on the 1910 Census. Living with his mother Sophie Smith. He was 8 years old. Also a half brother David Raidy, sister in law Martha and their 2 children Myrtle and Marion. His sister, Marie Smith age 16, brothers Samule 11 and Frank 3. Address as 305 E. West St., Balto., Md.

The 1920 Balto. City Directory has him living with half brother David Raidy at 102 E Hamburg St. and brother Samuel. Occupation Labor. No mention of brother Frank. He may have been too young yet to mention.
